Bravo announced today that The Real Housewives of New Jersey are set to return to our television screens later this year, nearly 2 years from the end of season 6 back in November of 2014. This, of course, is a direct result of star Teresa Giudice’s 15-month incarceration. We’re told that production actually started preliminary filming before Teresa was released from federal prison, but really picked up on the day she was released.
Bravo is once again shaking things up and completely overhauling the cast for season 7. Gone are one-season wonders Teresa Aprea, Nicole Napolitano, and Amber Marchese. Dina Manzo is also not returning for another round, but that’s not entirely surprising if you listened closely to her on the Reunion and her few appearances on WWHL (and it certainly doesn’t help that she’s splitting her time between NYC and California. Confirmed to be returning are of course Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga, who have been staples of the show for years now. Somewhat surprisingly, though, Bravo announced that Jacqueline Laurita will be returning to RHONJ after a one season break from full-time ‘Wife status.
Season 7 will focus on Teresa attempting to repair broken relationships with her family and friends after spending a year in prison. We’ll see her get her immediate family back together for a short time, before they prepare to send Joe off to federal prison for 4 years in March. Additionally, she will try to bury the past and move forward with brother and sister-in-law Joe and Melissa Gorga. Something is telling us that she will need the support from them while Joe is away. In Melissa’s life, we will see her continuing to be a loving mother while she explores her first business venture, clothing boutique Envy by Melissa Gorga. With Jacqueline, we will see her continuing to share the struggles and joys of caring for a child with autism. She also yearns to have her old relationship back with Teresa, meaning she’s willing to bury the past in pursuit for a happier future. That’s all Bravo is telling us about season 7 for now, but we have some inside scoop on what else is to come!
So you’re probably thinking that there can’t possibly be only 3 full time housewives this season, right? While it may be a possibility (RHONJ DID have 4 ‘Wives in season 2), it’s highly unlikely. We’re told that there’s been a multitude of potential cast members seen filming scenes with the women, but that not all of them will make full-time status. Production wants to make sure they’re interesting and can bring the drama before committing to having them on board. These potential castmates include matchmaker Siggy Flicker, Teresa’s friend Dolores Catania, and married lesbian couple Christina Flores and Robyn Levy. It will be interesting to see who, if any, make the final cut!
