3/10 UPDATE: The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 9 will premiere Monday, April 14 @ 9/8c!
I was off by exactly a week with my earlier guess of April 21. Keep reading to find out how I was able to guess so close to the actual air date.
I’ve been getting some questions lately about when the next season (Season 9) of The Real Housewives of Orange County will premiere. With RHOBH & RHOA currently airing and RHONY premiering March 11, it’s time we can start thinking about what’s coming next. RHOM Sesaon 4 is supposedly happening and at this point but we do have confirmation that RHONJ & RHOC will both be returning in 2014. Please keep in mind that what I am presenting here is just that…a guess. Bravo has yet to release a premiere date for The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 9.
I’m predicting The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 9 will premiere Monday, April 21, 2014.
I looked at a few factors to figure out what timeframe we might expect for the RHOC premiere date.
First, we check out last season. RHOC Season 8 premiered April 1, 2013.
Next, we examine which Housewives series are currently airing, when they might end, and what’s coming up next. Currently, we’ve got RHOBH & RHOA airing and RHONY already announced for March 11. RHOM Season 4 is late filming so we won’t see them until late summer at the earliest. This leaves RHONJ or RHOC to be up next.
RHONJ filming got pushed back to a later than normal start date due to the delayed Giudice fraud trial. Because of this, I’m guessing RHONJ will be filming until around April. Then, it will need some time in production before being ready to air. This means that RHOC should be up next and will be the next premiere date announced.
RHOBH is about to end. Andy’s been asking for questions for the ladies and Kyle’s mentioned it on FB so we know they’re about to film the reunion. This means there’s likely only a few episodes left in the season. I’m guessing RHOBH will wrap up about the same time as RHONY is kicking off. Now, even though RHOA started the same week as RHOBH it’s likely to have a longer season given that it is the most successful city in the franchise. There’s also been no mention yet about an impending reunion taping for RHOA so we know it’s got a while yet. If RHOA gets 24 episodes this season, as was the case last year, it’s last regular episode would be April 20.
Last year, RHOC premiered the same week RHOA ended but before the RHOA three-part reunion. I’m guessing the same for this year.
In order to arrive at a specific premiere date, we also needed to try and figure out which day of the week Bravo might decide to air RHOC. Last season, it aired on Monday nights. The season before was Tuesday nights and the one before that was Sundays. Bravo often airs two, even three, Housewives cities simultaneously but typically avoids airing multiple cities on the same night. We know, based on the Season 6 premiere date, that RHONY will air on Tuesdays and that it will likely overlap with RHOC, so I will go ahead and rule Tuesdays out. I would also bet that RHONJ will overlap with RHOC later in the season, as in years past. RHONJ has aired on Sundays the past two years and, given that it’s the 2nd most popular Housewives franchise after RHOA (which is also given the prime slot on Sunday nights), NJ will likely keep Sundays. So, this is how I arrived at my prediction that we’ll see RHOC airing on Monday nights again in 2014.
What do you think about my predictions? I’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as we hear anything official from Bravo!
