For a while now, there’s been talk of Bethenny Frankel making a return to The Real Housewives of New York City for Season 7. To be honest, I didn’t really think it would happen. Bethenny already made it big with her Skinny Girl cocktail line and seemed to have moved on to things other than reality TV. But, apparently, after a failed marriage and talk show, Bethenny is ready to return to her Bravo roots! Today, Bravo and Bethenny together announced that she will, in fact, be making a triumphant return to RHONY next season. I’m sure both she and the network are hoping her return will provide a much-needed ratings boost for the New York installment of the Housewives franchise. The former/future Housewife was previously featured on The Real Housewives of New York City during Seasons 1-3 and starred in two spin-off series (Bethenny Getting Married and Bethenny Ever After).
“I’m genuinely excited, with a side of slightly nervous, for my return to The Real Housewives of New York City,” Bethenny said in a statement. “Bravo has always been the place on television where I have the freedom to be unfiltered, honest and inappropriate, with an audience who has been with me from the beginning. I can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings for all of us. Watch what happens!”
Bethenny also told US weekly that a reason why she decided to come back was for a new start. “I’m such a different person and in such a different place than when I was on first season,” she explained. “Slightly exciting, a little bit of anxiousness, but it feels fresh. It doesn’t feel like [how] I felt going into the third season of the Housewives. There was just so much muck and I just didn’t feel it was good energy.”
Andy Cohen is also thrilled with her return. “Bethenny is one of the most popular Housewives in the history of the franchise, and I couldn’t be more excited she is coming home to Bravo!,” he says.
Also, in a rather unprecedented move, Bravo seems to have confirmed the entire Season 7 cast in today’s announcement. According to Bravotv.com, Bethenny will be joining Season 7 along with Carole Radziwill, Heather Thomson, Kristen Taekman, LuAnn de Lesseps, Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan. This comes despite rumors that Ramona had been demoted to a supporting role. It seems unlikely that Bravo would announce the Season 7 cast without signed contracts so does this mean that all the ladies have already signed contracts for next season? Guess we’ll just have to wait and watch!
What do you think of Bethenny’s return to RHONY?
